William Copper

Grade 4 String Orchestra with Oboe, Trumpet, and French Horn
Hartenshield Group, Inc

_William Copper. One of a series of tone poems describing a tree and a season, maple is the pulse and power of a close-grained young tree in early spring -- the season of the maple sap. Lots of motor rhythms and melodies on a not-too-difficult modal modern harmony. The oboe and brass instruments get solo moments, and contribute to a unique texture of sound with the string orchestra. Written without a key signature, but centered on G minor and Bb major, duration five minutes.
